COMPASS in Progress

COMPASS in Progress

Another milestone has passed following Release 2 on Nov. 6th, and COMPASS team members and core offices are focusing their attention to Release 3 coming Jan. 16, 2018. Release 3 will offer ISIR Processing (Student Financial Aid area), Student Program Plan (Student Records), SHCC Immunizations (Campus Community, Student Health), and Residency Processing (Admissions, Student Records). Release 3 training opens Dec. 16th for staff who manage Student Groups (formerly known as Special Programs), student majors, minors and certificates; graduate coordinators and staff; Student Health Care Center staff managing immunizations and health tests; and those who need to view student records. (Read the Release 3 article in this issue of COMPASS Update for details.)

Jan. 16th is also a significant date for the greater campus community, since the myUFL portal will be upgraded that day to include mobile-friendly navigation that adjusts and conforms to any smartphone, tablet, or large-screen device; cross-browser compatibility; the ability to create specialized workspaces; and a new look and feel, including a navigation icon in the upper right corner instead of a dropdown on the left. The portal will remain as an entry point for staff and faculty accessing student information, financial and HR systems, and menu options and access will continue to be based on approved roles. More information, including steps to take to re-bookmark your favorites, are available in the myUFL article in this issue of COMPASS Update and other COMPASS and Human Resource Services publications and websites, including a video tour of the new interface and Just-in-Time Training materials on the myUFL Basics toolkit.

We remind you that our website offers information on COMPASS and its elements, as well as archived articles in the News and Profiles section. You will receive the most recent information if you are subscribed to COMPASS Update. You can also request a personalized presentation for your college, unit or area via our Presentation Request Form.

Other highlights for November include:

  • Academic Advising: Internal training and testing are taking place this month, and user training for academic advising access will transpire in February 2018. Customizations to the new standard audit format continue to be made as the audit process continues with colleges across campus.
  • COMPASS Support: Any questions or concerns regarding functional issues should be directed to the related home/core office. If that office needs assistance, they should contact their associated COMPASS team member(s). COMPASS teams and core office staff are trained to handle new changes incorporated within COMPASS. IT issues continue to be handled using myIT for service requests and incidents.
  • Release 5a: A new “mini-release” on May 14, 2018, has been added to the COMPASS release schedule. The release will focus on new functionality in room and event management and the student view of the degree audit.
  • Training: Training for Release 3 opens Dec. 16th for staff who manage Student Groups (formerly known as Special Programs), student majors, minors and certificates; graduate coordinators and staff; Student Health Care Center staff managing immunizations and health tests; and those who need to view student records. Training resources, including guides, online toolkits, and group and/or online courses, will be offered as needed prior to releases late this year and in 2018 (see schedule below) in a Student Information System toolkit that resides alongside HR and Financials toolkits as well as in a Student Information Section. An easy-to-read guide to training requirements, types, intensity and availability is available on the COMPASS website.
