Enterprise Reporting users can now test drive a beta version of Cognos Analytics, the newest version of the Cognos reporting and data management product suite.
Users with the ER_USER role currently have access to the beta trial and can access the tool at: https://qat-reporting.it.ufl.edu. However, no enterprise data is currently connected to the beta, so users must upload their own data for use. (Please note: one’s assigned roles can be checked by accessing the “My Roles” page via the myUFL main menu under the “My Account” dropdown.)
Users who do not have the ER_USER role can request access to the beta trial by contacting their DSA and requesting the UF_ER_ANALYTICS_USER role.
As an integral part of COMPASS’s reporting and analytics initiative, the Cognos Analytics toolkit will provide UF with report authoring, interactive dashboarding capabilities and data modeling capabilities, as well as the ability to collaborate and share datasets between users and across departments. In short, the toolkit will provide UF Enterprise Reporting users with the ability to address many of their own reporting needs without intervention by UFIT staff.
“Analyzing data is requiring ever-increasing flexibility and responsiveness, and the ability of a central unit to meet all the reporting and analytic needs of the institution is not a reality,” said Associate CIO and Senior Director of Enterprise Systems Dave Gruber. “Cognos Analytics provides individuals the ability to work immediately with their own data sets while also allowing them to tie into enterprise data and reports.”
Financial and HR reporting users will continue to use the current myUFL Enterprise Reporting environment for the short term, and new student Enterprise Reporting data will be made available within Cognos Analytics with each of COMPASS’s seven releases. Release 1 is scheduled for August.
Furthermore, what was Query Studio and Report Studio in the previous version of Cognos will now become Cognos Authoring, and will provide enhanced query and report development capabilities.
