In the near future, Enterprise Reporting users will have access to a new-and-improved version of Cognos called Cognos Analytics. This next-generation toolset will help users bring their data to life and facilitate data-driven decision-making.
Whether you’re an Enterprise Reporting expert or a new user just trying to spruce up a simple data set, Cognos Analytics will allow you to upload your own data, create and personalize dashboards and reports, and develop compelling visualizations using an all-new interactive interface.
This sneak peek video demonstrates just how easy it is to upload, manipulate and visualize data:
“The new Cognos Analytics tools will make it possible for users to analyze their data and tell stories more easily and effectively,” says Bryan Cooke of the COMPASS reporting team.
The new toolset will also provide users with other important capabilities. According to Cooke, the improved functionality includes an upload data feature so users can pull their own data into the reporting toolset, combine it with enterprise data, and create dashboards and visuals that can be shared by email or uploaded for others to view. Furthermore, improved browser compatibility will ensure that the toolset runs seamlessly on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. And Cognos Analytics will retain all of the original Cognos functionality.
The initial release of Cognos Analytics will tie into student enterprise data. Subsequent releases will incorporate access to HR and financial data. Stay tuned to COMPASS Update to learn when Enterprise Reporting’s Cognos Analytics will go live and be available to the UF campus community.
